Cotton dyeing can sometimes take a big toll on the environment. Certain yellow, red, and black reactive dyes interact and “block” each other from fixing on the fabric, so it can take a lot of dye to attain darker shades like brown and black – and much of that dye is wasted because it does not fix on the fabric but washes out in the effluent. DyStar has created cotton dyeing products which provide a high level of fixation and reduce effluent load whilst supporting higher productivity needed to meet the short lead times in the textile supply chain.
